Dichroic Glass Info
Dichroic glass is made using micro layers of metal or metal oxide crystals that transmit or reflect light in such a way that they produce a shimmering array of colours that change depending on the angle viewed.
The metal or metal oxides are vapourised in a vacuum chamber which then condense on the surface of a glass plate as crystals. A layer of quartz or glass is then applied for protection.
There can be between 30 to 50 layers of crystals on each glass plate. Different colours are then fused together and lazers are used to create abstract patterns resulting in totally unique pieces.
Our dichroic glass collection currently includes rectangle and oval shaped pendants.
